Crystal Bowersox Rocks American Idol!
You were thinking that Crystal Bowersox will be the most lackluster performance of the night because she had to be rushed to the hospital. You were thinking she will play the sympathy card and get her votes and patronage of the judges. On both counts you would be wrong. Crystal sang with such confidence and élan that you could never guess that she was hospitalized a day ago! Ryan Seacrest told her on his radio show that she could go home if she was feeling ill. Crystal replied, "I'm a tough cookie. ... Let's do this."
She did! And how! She went first up and performed Creedance Clearwater Revival's "Long as I Can See the Light". After her performance, Simon admitted that he "misunderestimated" her talent and called her voice "incredible"! Simon added that she was the first one that came across like a star to the judges' panel. Randy Jackson said, "You are the truth. You do what you do!" Ellen called her "pure, raw, natural talent". Kara DioGuardi felt that Crystal had the rock star factor that American Idol is looking for. Watch this space for more updates on this rising meteor!
American Idol Contestant Takes Ill
An American Idol contestant fell ill and had to be taken to the hospital. Crystal Bowersox was ill due to diabetic complications and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors advised her not to perform that night. So the Girls Round was scheduled for the next day. The boys went ahead a day earlier. And that reflected on their performance. They disappointed many American Idol fans and their lackluster performances hit a new low on a show that is already making fans think seriously if they have been making too much of the judges panel instead of the contestants.
Despite that, there were some stellar performances on American Idol. Michael Lynche led the way with his excellent rendition of James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World." He made good use of his charisma. The judges were particularge impressed with him. Ellen DeGeneres said, "That was the one to beat, the way to start out the night.fantastic!" Lee Dewyze was the another one that got the praises. His version of Hinder's "Lips of an Angel" got Simon Cowell to complement him: "You may be the one to beat!"Simon felt that Lee was "head and shoulders above everyone else on your side of the competition right now."
