Memoirs of an American Idol
The memoirs of an American Idol will be out this May 4. David Archuleta will be coming out with his story in a book titled, "Chords of Strength". The former runners-up on American Idol was one of the more popular figures on the music scene and it can be safely assumed that he will come on stage for a performance in Season 9. Going back to the book, here's what the cover on David Archuleta's book will say (courtesy amazon.com):
David Archuleta was named one of the "breakout stars of 2008" by Forbes magazine and landed the number two spot on the Billboard charts.
In Chords of Strength, David shares his unexpected and inspiring journey, including how he overcame vocal cord paralysis to achieve his dream of being a singer. He reveals insecurities he felt about his voice-before he realized that he loved the way singing made him feel more than he disliked the way he sounded.
In this personal memoir, David opens up about the strength he draws from his unshakable faith and unyielding family. He pays tribute to those who continue to inspire him and through their example help him believe in himself, his talent, and his abilities.
American Idol Finalist's Close Shave
American Idol Season 5 finalist Elliot Yamin had a close shave when he was performing just a mile away from the site of the Chilean earthquake. The latest natural disaster to hit Planet Earth was about to become a personal tragedy for the American Idol family. Elliot Yamin tweeted continuously as he was caught up in the upheaval. His tweets helped the police and the authorities to know exactly what was going on after the earthquake. CNN and NBC were following his tweets as well. The first tweet that came online was: "Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!....I swear I thought this was the end of my life!!!!!"
Then he described the situation out there: "Complete and utter choas on the streets...no power...my heart is beatin outta my chest!....tsunami warnin...I am only a mile inland!" When he came to know that his tweets were being relayed all over the world, he wrote back: "my bro just informed me that cnn is relayin my tweets!!...please knw that we r safe, and there is currently no threat of a tsunami". He continued to tweet even after the initial phase was over: "Hey everybody...we r totally safe and sound 4 the time being...I'm finally calmer, and dawn is approaching, which will help!..thx 4 ur prayers. I'm totally calm now....were all 2gether...got blankets from our rooms, and we're all hudled on the street..no aftershox in a while.."
We offer our heartfelt condolences to all those families who suffered losses in the earthquake.
