Courage Award for Michael Vick
Michael Vick, the quarterback of Philadelphia Eagles, has got team's Ed Block Courage Award. He was inducted into the team after being in the prison for 18 months. He was busted for his role in a dog-fighting ring. The award is a prestigious one in the NFL circuit. This is given to players who set examples with their courage and sportsmanship.
Teammates vote for the award. On receiving it, Michael Vick said, "I still have a lot of work to do. But having my teammates vote me this award shows I'm doing the right thing." Michael has also been in prison for killing bulls in the pit and then he was arrested for making money out of a dog-fighting competition and then lying about it to the authorities.
His team members were particularly overjoyed at the award going to him. Andy Reid, the Eagles coach, said of Michael: "Congratulations to him for straightening his life around. He's obviously very well-respected by his teammates." Donovan McNabb termed the award as "well-deserved". Michael is now eligible for the pan-league Ed Block Award. He's also in a reality show on BET.
