Katy Perry Permanent Judge on American Idol?

January 27, 2010 at 10:39 pm by Jamie.

The fans of American Idol didn’t get to watch anything spectacular in terms of performances, except for Andrew Garcia. But they were witness to some terse exchanges between the judges on the panel. There was Katy Perry as the guest judge and she took some generous potshots at Kara DioGuardi. When Kara started speaking about the back-story of Chris Golightly, Perry commented, "This is not a Lifetime movie, sweetheart."

Something similar happened when Kara started singing the song that made Katy Perry a name to reckon with: “I kissed a girl”. Perry shot back at Kara, "Please stop before I throw my Coke in your face!" it was great stuff for the viewers and they are already talking about Perry replacing Simon Cowell when he bows out next season. Perry herself is excited: "The American Idol experience was awesome. If I was offered that job as a permanent host, I would ditch my career and take on that career."

Perry had more to say on the American Idol judge issue: "It's kind of like judging a talent show. American Idol was great fun. It was so easy. I didn't really make anybody cry, but I did tell the truth to some kids that might have needed to hear it. I guess the pressure gets really on when you start eliminating the number of people that are going through," she said. "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, and then you've got the final two. That can be kind of tense and stressful."
