Paul Shirley’s Hate for Haiti

January 28, 2010 at 12 :06 am by Jonah.

Paul Shirley, a former NBA player turned writer, is under fire for his controversial and somewhat disgusting comments about the Haiti disaster. He scoffed the relief efforts in Haiti and made it clear that he “has not donated a cent”. He feels that giving money to Haiti was like giving money to a homeless guy to build a house. He says, "I don't think the people of Haiti will do much with my money either."

This is his message to Haiti:

Dear Haitians -

First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded. As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it's possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

Sincerely,

The Rest of the World

Though such a view is not completely off the hook, may be he should have left the condom part out.
