The Vampire Diaries
The Vampire Diaries is very similar to plot to the Twilight saga. Elena Gilbert is a 17-year old charming teenager who lives with her aunt and 15-year old brother, Jeremy. Their parents were killed in a car crash which completely devastates Elena. She finds herself getting drawn away from society and friends, who had occupied a major chunk of her life. She finds it very hard to cope with her grief and feels that she is slowly losing her grip on life and reality.
Elena and her friends are much attracted to the new student in the school, Stefan Salvatore. Stefan and Elena find themselves falling for each other. Elena has no clue that Stefan is a vampire who tires his best to accommodate with humans and lead a normal life. Stefan’s brother Damon is the antithesis of Stefan’s gentle personality. Damon typifies the violence and gore of vampires. The two brothers fight over the right of possession to Elena’s soul and also those of her friends’ in the Mystic Falls, Virginia.
The series has been adapted from the pages of L.J. Smith’s book series of the same name. The adaptation has been done by Kevin Williamson. The series blends teen drama with elements of the supernatural. The series is the best performing show on The CW Network.
